Rules that matter for Toronto employers

  • Ontario: from January 1, 2026, employers with 25 or more employees must include the expected pay or pay range in publicly advertised job postings, say whether the posting is for an existing vacancy, disclose AI use in screening, and not ask for Canadian work experience. Source
  • Ontario: most private-sector employers follow the Employment Standards Act, 2000, which sets minimum notice, overtime, vacation and leave rules. Source
  • Federally regulated employers, such as banks, airlines, telecoms and interprovincial transport, follow the Canada Labour Code instead of provincial employment standards. Source
